Quick and Easy Soft Fluffy Idlis





To Serve : 3 - 4

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice : 1 cup
Dhuli Urad dal : 1/4 cup
Poha : A handfull
Salt : To taste


Method:
  1. Wash the rice, dal and poha thoroughly with water. 
  2. Soak them in water for six hours.
  3. Grind them together to a smooth paste in a mixer. The mixture should not be too thick or too thin.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a vessel which can accommodate about the double the quantity and allow it to stand for about ten hours.The mixture will get fermented during this time and expands due to which we need to keep it in a large vessel, otherwise it may spill out.
  5. Add salt to the mixture and mix well.
  6. Pour the mixture into a idli cooker and steam it for twenty minutes.
  7. Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
Note : The above proportion makes 16 small idlis. The fermentation time may vary depending upon weather. In hot weather, it may take less time whereas in cold weather, it may take more time.

Quick and Easy French Toast


To Serve : 4

Ingredients :


  1. Eggs              : 5
  2. Milk              : 4 Tbsp
  3. Bread            : 8 slices
  4. Onion            : 1
  5. Green chillies : 3
  6. Salt                : To taste
  7. Oil                 : To fry

Method :

  • Finely chop the onion and the green chilles.
  • Mix the onions, green chilles, eggs, salt and the milk together and beat well.
  • Heat sufficient oil in a pan for deep frying.
  • Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture for 10 - 20 seconds and deep fry.
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
 
Quick and Healthy Grilled corn and cheese sandwich

To Serve : 4


Ingredients :

  1. Boiled sweet corn : 1 cup
  2. Bread                   : 8 slice
  3. Onion                   : 1
  4. Cheese slice         : 4
  5. Oregano               : To taste
  6. Salt                      : To taste


Method :

  • Finely chop the onions.
  • Take one slice of bread, put some boiled sweet corn on it. Put some onions. Sprinkle salt and oregano as per taste. Top it up with a cheese slice and cover it up with another slice of bread.
  • Repeat the above with the remaining bread slices.
  • Grill the sandwich in a griller or a sandwich toaster.
  • Serve hot with tomato ketchup.

Easy Breakfast Pancakes


To Serve : 2 people

Ingredients:

  • Eggs : 4
  • Refined flour(maida) : 8 Tbsp
  • Milk : 1/2 cup or more
  • Onion : 1 medium sized
  • Geen chillies : 2
  • Capsicum : 1/2
  • Tomato : 1 small
  • Cheese cubes : 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Oregano(optional)
  • Butter : 4 Tbsp

Method :

  1. Chop the onion, green chillies, tomato and capsicum.
  2. Grate the cheese cubes.
  3. Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
  4. Then add a portion of the milk to it.
  5. Add flour to the above mixture in small portions and stir it with a wooden spoon so that no lumps are formed.
  6. Keep adding flour in small portions until all the flour has been added to the mixture and stir continously to make sure that no lumps are formed.
  7. Add more milk to the mixture if at any point of time, the batter is too thick.
  8. Add the chopped vegetables and salt to the batter.
  9. The batter should not be too thick or too thin.
  10. Heat 1 tbsp butter in frying pan.
  11. Add one - fourth of the batter to the pan and spread it slightly.
  12. Cook until the sides turn crispy golden.
  13. When the sides turn golden, turn it upside down using a wooden spoon.
  14. Wait till the other side is cooked.
  15. Then slide the pancake onto a serving plate and top it up with a portion of grated cheese and oregano.
  16. Repeat the steps 10 - 15 with the remaining batter.
  17. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or any accompaniment of your choice.
Note : In place of butter, you can also use oil for frying.

Tip : While using butter for frying, mix some oil with butter so that it doesn't burn

Easy and Quick Cheese Omlette

To Serve : 1 person

Ingredients :

  • Eggs : 2
  • Onion : 1/4th
  • Geen chillie : 1/2
  • Cheese slice : 1
  • Milk : 1 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oregano
  • Oil : 1 Tbsp
 Method :
 

  1. Chop the onion and green chillie.
  2. Beat the eggs.
  3. Add the chopped onion, green chillie, milk, salt and whisk until smooth.
  4. Heat the oil in a frying pan.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the pan and spread it.
  6. When the egg is cooked from the bottom, put the cheese slice on it and sprinkle some oregano and fold the omlette.
  7. Keep the omlette on the pan for 1 - 2 minutes so that the egg is cooked from inside and the cheese melts.
  8. Serve alone or with toast.

Quick and Easy Keema Sandwich

Ingredients :

  • Minced Meat : 500gm
  • Shelled Peas : 200gm
  • Onion : 4 big
  • Tomato : 2 medium
  • Ginger garlic paste : 4 tsp
  • Green chillies : 4 - 6
  • Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder : 4 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder : 4 tsp
  • Corriander leaves : To Garnish
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil : 3 Tbsp
  • Bread slices : 16
  • Butter : 100gm
Method :

Follow the steps mentioned below to prepare the keema,



  1. Clean the minced meat thoroughly with water and keep aside.
  2. Chop the onions, tomatoes, green chillies.
  3. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan or kadhai.
  4. Add the chopped onions to it and fry till golden brown.
  5. Add the ginger garlic paste to it and fry for about a minute.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes, green chillies and all the other spices mentioned except garam masala powder.
  7. Fry the above till oil separates from the mixture.
  8. Add the minced meat, salt and stir so that the spices get mixed with the meat. Add water just enough to cover the minced meat completely. Add the peas to it and cover the pan with a lid. Put the gas on sim.
  9. When the meat has been cooked, open the lid and allow the remaining water to dry, if any.
  10. Sprinkle the garam masala powder and mix well.
Follow the steps mentioned below to make the sandwich,

  1. Apply butter on each bread slice.
  2. On the other side of the bread on which butter is not applied,  put the keema and cover it with another bread slice such that the buttered side is outside.
  3. Repeat it for all the sandwiches.
  4. Grill or toast the sandwiches in a sandwich toaster and serve hot with Tomato ketchup.
